Upper Dolpo Trek

The isolated, off-beaten trails and fascinating geography of this trek attracts many trekkers. Only recently opened for tourism activities, Upper Dolpo is increasingly bringing more travelers to explore the mystical region.
Lying between the Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri ranges, this trek lets you explore some of the most beautiful places, lakes, and rivers. After you arrive in Kathmandu, your Upper Dolpo trek starts with a flight to Jhupal via Nepalgunj. The trail passes through many beautiful villages, valleys, and some of the most spectacular landscapes. You will also traverse through Shey Phoksundo National Park.
Witness the renowned Phoksundo Lake and the crystal Mountains. You will also get the chance to visit some of the oldest monasteries in the region.
You can do this trek during spring and autumn. Spring (April-May) and autumn (October- November) provides the perfect temperature with pleasant and clear weather to trek. It is better to avoid this trek during winter due to heavy snowfall and blizzards. It makes some passes impossible to climb.
As Upper Dolpo lies in a restricted area, you cannot trek alone. You will also need to obtain Lower Dolpo Restricted Area entry permit, Shey Phoksundo National Park permits, and Upper Dolpo Restricted Area entry permit for this trek.
